The Resurrection Matrix will skip sequel events? The description is surprising!

Yesterday, the first trailer of the fourth film in the Matrix series made its debut on the web. The American media also received the official description of the production, which brings quite surprising news.

Until now, all official information about the idea for the Resurrection Matrix has been kept secret. We knew mainly the casting information, which showed that in the new Matrix, some of the main cast would definitely return to re-play the cult characters, some actors were exchanged for a younger model (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II replaced Laurence Fishburne in the role of Morpheus) and that there will be some new faces in unknown roles (Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci). In the trailer itself, it was noticeable that the fourth part will be very much related to the plot of the first part. So what is Matrix number 4? Reboot? Or maybe a sequel? The situation becomes clearer with the publication of the description.

From a disclosed by Warner Bros. The official description shows that it will be a sequel, but only the first part from 1999, most likely ignoring the events known to viewers from the second (The Matrix Reloaded) and the third (The Matrix Revolutions). In the description you can find such sentences as: “The Matrix of Resurrection is a continuation of the story set in the first film The Matrix” or “20 years after the first film, the franchise that helped define the pop culture of the turn of the century, returns with the continuation and development of the original film”.

This would not be the first time in Hollywood in recent years that a similar situation has occurred. A similar approach was used for the 2018 Halloween horror movie, which was a direct sequel to the 1978 movie and ignored numerous sequels, and for 2019’s Terminator: Dark Destiny, which was a sequel to the franchise’s first and second installments.

The film was directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she wrote with David Mitchell and Alexander Hemon. The producers are Grant Hill, James McTeigue and Lana Wachowski. The executive producers are Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, Michael Salven, Jesse Ehrman and Bruce Berman.

In the new picture, the actors from the previous parts return – Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss – in the roles of the famous characters Neo and Trinity. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith also star in the film.

The image will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. We will see the film in Poland from December 17th.
