The first Suicide Squad of 2016 will never be forgotten. Following the success of the director’s version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, David Ayer makes no secret that he would also like to get a chance to release his Ayer Cut. A similar opinion is shared by Jared Leto, who played the role of the Joker in the film.
The 2016 Suicide Legion received mostly negative opinions. Jared Leto was also hit by the Joker, which many fans did not like. David Ayer, however, still stands up for his work, from time to time reminding about its existence. This time, the director’s version of the Suicide Legion also decided to support the actor playing the role of Joker. During the premiere of Gucci House in Los Angeles, Jared Leto was interviewed by Variety. When asked if Ayer Cut should be released, he replied:
Of course! Why not? Why would they not do this? After all, that’s what streaming is for, right?
David Ayer has repeatedly said that it is not up to him to release another version of the film. To Jared Leto’s statement, he reacted on his Twitter.
This is exactly what streaming is for. If you own the intellectual property and are authorized to monetize it from your shareholders, that’s exactly what you do.
The first part of the Suicide Legion, despite the very negative opinions in the media, earned a lot of money, a total of over $ 745 million. The film is also an Oscar winner, and although it is only in the best make-up category, there are few superhero works that can boast of this statuette. The cast of the first part consists of, among others. Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, and Jai Courtney as Boomerang.
