It’s been a year and a half since the premiere of Birds of Prey (and the fantastic emancipation of one Harley Quinn)! In it, in addition to Harley Quinn, we saw characters such as: Huntress, Cassandra Cain and Black Canary. Despite the fact that the production took off quite decently, Warner Bros. still not announced a sequel. However, it looks like one of the production superheroes might get their own movie!
Jurnee Smollett-Bell has a bright future ahead of him. Not only did the actress win several awards and nominations for the recently canceled series Lovecraft Land, she also appeared in the DC Extended Universe as Black Canary! This character quickly became one of the favorite characters from the universe. It seems that her story is not over yet … According to Cinelinx, which was later confirmed in a tweet by Smollett-Bell, Warner Bros. is planning a project that would focus on the Black Canary. It will likely be a movie that will make its way straight to HBO Max, just like the upcoming Batgirl project. We also know that Misha Green, who worked on Lovecraft Land, will take on the script of the project. There will be a DC FanDome soon, where we will probably get official confirmation from the label and more information on the production.
Guess the Canary is out of the cage! 🤪 So excited to finally embark on this adventure with my creative soul sis @MishaGreen. 🖤💛 #blackcanary #dinahlance #lettttssssssgoooooo ahhhhhhhhh !!!!!https://t.co/GocuNdEn6E

Black Canary is the character of one of the first DC comics superheroes, created by screenwriter Robert Kanigher and graphic artist Carmine Infantino. It debuted in Flash Comics # 86 from 1947. In addition to high skills in martial arts, she also has a supernatural power called canary cry, i.e. a sound wave caused by screaming, which can destroy objects and incapacitate enemies. The superhero has appeared several times on TV screens and cinemas. She first appeared on the small screen in the series Birds of Prey (2002-2003), where she was played by Rachel Skarsten. She then appeared on the series Smallville (Alaina Huffman) and Arrow (Katie Cassidy, Caity Lotz and Julian Harkavy). Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays the role of Dinah Lance / Black Canary in the DCEU cinema franchise.
