James Gunn posted on his Twitter a huge pile of storyboards that only feature 12 story pages for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
James Gunn, known for his good interaction with fans, posted a photo on his Twitter that shows a pile of sheets of paper. The director said that this whole stack is storyboards that map just 12 pages of the story to the new Guardians. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is a project that at the moment is shrouded in mystery, but we know at least when the shooting of the film will start and when its premiere will take place.
Through the storyboard, the director leaves notes and directions for costume designers, set designers, stuntmen and actors. These notes contain more than just what Gunn sees. They describe what he hears and feels about the movie because he notes that the script is simply “a description of what he sees visually.” This process is extremely extensive, as Gunn noted in a response to a fan:
Each shot in my videos is hand drawn first. That’s at least 2,500 shots for my most recent videos. Multiple shots – about 1/3 – take 2 to 10 cards or more – because I draw a movement So I probably have around 3,000 cards.
Below we can see a photo of the aforementioned stack of cards.
Stack of hand drawn storyboards I just finished from the past few days for # GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol3. This represents 12 pages of script & will be the foundation for this section of the film. Designing the film like this is the most important part of my job at this point. pic.twitter.com/AdUWakUr3W
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Earlier, on Christmas 2022, a special Christmas production dedicated to the heroes of the film will appear.
